Aetna offers a broad range of traditional, voluntary and consumer directed health insurance products and related services, including medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, group life and disability plans, and medical management capabilities and health care management services for Medicaid plans.

Aetna received a satisfaction benchmark score in 2022 that was higher than the industry average, as measured by the American Customer Satisfaction Index. 2
Aetna holds strong financial ratings from credit rating agencies like A.M. Best, which affirmed its “A” rating of CVS Health Corporation’s Aetna Inc. subsidiaries in 2023. 3
For more information, see www.aetna.com. Current Aetna Medicare Supplement plan members can contact member services for help with their plan and to find the Aetna customer service phone number for their plan.
14.6 million Americans have a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan. 4 Aetna sells Medicare Supplement Insurance plans, which are standardized in most states. It offers Plans A, B, F * , G and N. Each of these plans can help pay some of the out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, such as copayments, coinsurance and deductibles.
Plans A and B may be ideal for those looking for a lower premium Medicare Supplement Insurance option that covers the basics.
Plans G and N may be ideal for someone who needs a moderate amount of coverage.
* Plan F is also offered as a high deductible plan.
Plan F is the most popular Medicare Supplement Insurance plan. 4 Medigap Plan F is no longer available to incoming Medicare beneficiaries, however.
Plan F (and Plan C) are not available to anyone who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. Those who were eligible for Medicare before that date have been grandfathered in and may still apply for Plan F or Plan C if either plan is offered where you live.
The law affects all insurance companies selling Medicare Supplement Insurance, including Aetna Medicare Supplement insurance plans.
In order to be eligible for an Aetna Medigap plan, you must first be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. You then must live in the service area in which your desired plan is sold, as plan selection can vary from one location to another.
While you can apply for a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan at any time of the year, the best time to do so is during your Medigap Open Enrollment Period.
Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period is a six-month period that begins the month you are at least 65 years old and enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B. You have guaranteed issue rights during your Medigap Open Enrollment Period that protect you from medical underwriting when you apply for a plan.
If you apply for Medicare Supplement Insurance when you don’t have guaranteed issue rights, insurance companies can charge you more for a plan or deny you coverage altogether based on your health. You may qualify for guaranteed issue rights at other times, if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
There is no list of providers for Aetna Medicare Supplement Insurance, because Aetna Medigap plans may be used anywhere that Original Medicare is accepted. If a health care provider accepts Medicare Part A and Part B, they will accept an Aetna Medicare Supplement Insurance plan.
That is true even if you use your Medicare coverage in a different state from which you live. Even if a provider does not accept other Aetna health insurance plans, they must accept your Aetna Medicare Supplement Insurance plan if they accept Original Medicare.
Roughly 9 out of every 10 primary care physicians (89%) accept new Medicare beneficiaries. 5 Any doctor, health care provider and facility that accepts Medicare also accepts Medicare Supplement Insurance.
